Science Fair

01 Nov 2025

Our Science Fair on 01 November 2025 turns curiosity into shareable, testable work. Projects can be experimental (testing a hypothesis), engineering (building or programming something that works), or explanatory (clarifying a complex idea with models or simulations). Students submit a short proposal two weeks in advance stating the question, method, materials, and what will count as evidence. Safety and ethics are checked early—no open flames inside, safe handling of chemicals, humane and respectful treatment in any biology-related work, and clear mention of limitations. To build communication skills, every team prepares a one-minute pitch for general visitors, a three-minute walkthrough for judges, and a poster with the classic structure: question, background, method, results, analysis, and next steps. We encourage honest reporting: inconclusive results and failed prototypes are normal; what matters is how you reason about them. Judges include teachers, industry guests, and alumni in STEM fields, using a simple rubric covering originality, rigor, clarity, and real-world relevance. Awards recognize not only ‘Best Overall’ but also categories like ‘Most Creative Measurement’, ‘Best Use of Data Visualization’, and ‘Community Impact’. Workshops in the week prior help with error bars, fair comparisons, and the difference between correlation and causation. For younger learners, we’ll run a hands-on corner—paper circuits, micro-rockets, and microscope slides—so the fair remains family-friendly. Accessibility matters: quiet viewing hours at the start, wide aisles between tables, and digital versions of posters for screen readers. After the event, selected projects will be documented on the school website with photos, abstracts, and student reflections on what they would do differently next time. In short, the fair is less about trophies and more about thinking clearly, making carefully, and sharing what you learned with a wider audience.

Winter Break

0 Dec 2025 – 05 Jan 2026

Winter Break runs from 20 December 2025 through 05 January 2026. Campus is closed to regular classes, but a limited admin counter remains open 10:00–12:00 on weekdays for transcripts, fee queries, and urgent certificates. Students are encouraged to rest first—sleep, daylight, and movement beat marathon ‘catch-up’ sessions—but we also provide a gentle menu of voluntary, low-pressure learning: a curated reading list by grade, a couple of math puzzle sheets, and short science videos with prompts you can discuss at home. For seniors, counselors will host two optional sessions on scholarship timelines and personal statements, with a sign-up link emailed the week before break. Families who travel can request letter templates if visas require proof of enrollment or travel dates. Library books may be borrowed for the duration of the break; e-resources remain available with your usual login. To support well-being, we share a simple screen-time plan: pick device-free hours (preferably the first hour after waking and the last hour before sleep), set app time limits, and use phones deliberately to connect with people rather than drift. If you’re using the break to tidy your study setup, consider three quick wins: better chair height and lighting, a clear charging station away from the desk, and labeled folders for each subject. Safety reminders: if you’re experimenting at home, keep projects simple and supervised; if you’re traveling, store meds in original packaging and keep a list of emergency contacts. When we return in January, teachers will run short ‘re-entry’ activities to refresh routines: reviewing note-taking formats, resetting class norms, and mapping the road to finals. Until then, enjoy the pause. Step outside, take pictures that aren’t for posting, and come back with a little more energy than you left with.

Spring Term Begins

06 Jan 2026

The Spring Term begins on 06 January 2026 and carries us from consolidation to application. Early weeks emphasize bridging: teachers revisit the trickiest mid-year concepts with new examples, then extend them into richer tasks—lab investigations that require planning, literature units that move from analysis to argument, and math sequences that connect algebra, geometry, and data. Students receive a one-page ‘Term Map’ per subject with major checkpoints, internal deadlines, and revision milestones leading toward finals. Clubs resume with updated rosters, and inter-school fixtures are posted for the season. For exam-year learners, we’ll run targeted clinics after school (short, focused, capped at small groups) and release past-paper packs with worked solutions and examiner-style comments. Portfolio subjects schedule studio time and interim critiques so creative work grows steadily rather than in last-minute sprints. To keep balance, homeroom includes a weekly 10-minute habit check—sleep, screens, movement, and meals—and a quick peer share of what’s actually helping. Technology expectations remain simple and firm: devices on desks only when needed; during independent work, notifications off and tabs limited to task-relevant sites. We will also launch a brief academic integrity refresher: what citation looks like in different disciplines, how to use AI tools as tutors rather than ghostwriters, and why process evidence (drafts, notes, planning) matters. Parent communications shift from big meetings to short, timely nudges: a calendar digest on Sunday evenings and a single mid-term progress postcard highlighting trajectory rather than just a snapshot. As spring unfolds, expect more authentic assessments—presentations, practicals, and design challenges—alongside traditional tests. The term ends with students building a small ‘learning portfolio’ that captures not only grades but also artifacts: a lab log, a refined essay paragraph with commentary, a problem they solved two different ways, and a quick reflection on how they managed time under pressure. We’re aiming for growth that’s visible, portable, and genuinely theirs.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
